Procuro High Voltage Maintenance Solutions

High Voltage Maintenance

Under current law as an operator of a site with high voltage equipment you are required to have a Safe System of Work and Operation of your Electrical Network procedures in place. The “Health and Safety at Work Act 1974”, the “Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999” & “Electricity Supply Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002” all govern your obligations

Under these regulations, it is stated that the frequency and quality of maintenance should be sufficient to prevent danger as far as is reasonably practical.

  • Compliance with all Legislation requirements including Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • Substation Inspections
  • Oil Handling
  • Electrical Equipment Maintenance Schedules
  • Scheduled maintenance using our qualified Competent Personnel
  • Comprehensive records for all Maintenance activities
  • Fully trained and competent engineers to manage and operate maintenance schemes
  • Scheduled Maintenance Packages to suit customer requirements
  • 24/7 cover for operational work and emergencies

Oil Analysis

The high voltage transformer supplies all of your electricity on site and can be looked after by a straightforward and inexpensive oil test.

The test can inform you of the condition of the unit and the likelihood of it failing while in service. Many Insurance companies now state this as a regular requirement.  So for complete piece of mind contact us today to arrange for this to be carried out on your high voltage transformer.

Procuro can offer a routine suite of oil tests, which include Acidity, Moisture and Electric Strength which look at the condition of the oil. This is a good general test to pick up any problems before a failure occurs.  We can also offer DGA (dissolved gas analysis) which tend to look at the transformer itself and mainly picks up any discharge i.e. electrical burning. It is particularly beneficial on larger transformers where the capital replacement is high if the unit fails. It is not always used on the less expensive secondary transformers where the replacement costs are not as high and where generally they have been very reliable. PCB analysis is also available.

We would recommend annual oil tests to ensure the best possible performance of a transformer. These tests show the effects of load and the condition of the insulant within the transformer.

Transformer Voltage Reduction

Electrical equipment has to be designed to accept a range of input voltages about its nominal design centre, but if the actual supply is higher than necessary for proper operation, the equipment will consume more power than needed, and also in many cases life is reduced - both increasing the cost of ownership. Procuro HV engineers can inform you how to ascertain if  you can reduce your energy bills with next to no cost. Follow the link at the top of this page for further information.
